Anyone interested can take a 2-hour tour, discover the extraordinary world of rock salt from the Loulé underground mine, with more than 45 kilometers of galleries, it is an opportunity to dive into the only visitable Portuguese mine that is located below sea level, where you can see geological formations that are 230 million years old.
Inside the mine you can take a walk of about 1.3 kilometers and learn about the old and current mining processes, you can discover the geological importance of this mine in the context of the region, as well as learn about the applications of rock salt for the beings humans throughout history and to the present.
